2017 Endorsements
Below is the list of NYC Kids PAC endorsements in the 2017 City Council primaries, which we decided on the basis of these candidates’ thoughtful responses to our education survey and their record of supporting public education in their communities.
We urge you to check out their websites and vote for them in the Democratic primary this Tuesday, Sept. 12:
- District 2: East Village, Gramercy Park, Kips Bay, Lower East Side, Murray Hill, Rose Hill; Carlina Rivera
- District 4: Upper East Side, Carnegie Hill, Yorkville, Central Park South, Midtown East, Times Square, Koreatown, Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town, Waterside Plaza, Tudor City, Turtle Bay, Murray Hill, Sutton Place; Vanessa Aronson and Keith Powers
- District 18: Soundview, Castle Hill, Parkchester, Clason Point, Harding Park; Michael Beltzer
- District 34:Williamsburg, Bushwick, Ridgewood; Antonio Reynoso
- District 35: Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Bedford Stuyvesant: Ede Fox
- District 38: Red Hook, Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace: Carlos Menchaca
- District 43: Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach: Khader El-Yateem
We reached out to all the candidates in these and a few other Council races, sometimes several times, and all the surveys we received back are posted on our website here.
We are also endorsing Tish James to be re-elected Public Advocate, because of her consistent support for improvements that need to be made to our schools, for stronger checks and balances, parent empowerment, transparency and providing NYC kids with their right to a quality education.
We would like to thank Sal Albanese for filling out our survey — the only mayoral candidate to do so — but at this time, we are withholding any endorsement in the Mayoral race.
Please be sure to vote Tuesday! You can find your polling place here.
